For Impact

Lisa Corcoran

Partner & In-House Counsel

Lisa joined For Impact as legal counsel in 2018 following 13 years of service with the Federal Government. Following law school, Lisa entered the Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, serving as a prosecutor at Ft Lewis, Washington, and as a legal advisor in Iraq. After leaving active duty, Lisa joined the Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, combating fraud and corruption throughout Afghanistan to ensure that aid and development funds reached the intended recipients. Throughout her time working for the Government – both at home and abroad in several leadership roles – Lisa developed a strong appreciation for the pivotal impact that leadership and culture have on individual and organizational outcomes.

Following her passion for public interest work, Lisa joined For Impact with the desire to partner with For Impact organizations. Lisa provides legal support to For Impact as well as coaching support to clients. Drawing upon her years of advising Government officials at all levels, Lisa finds coaching to be a natural and welcome fit and she draws inspiration each day from clients and the life-changing work they do.

Lisa graduated from Notre Dame in 2002 and from American University in 2005 with a JD and a MA in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. She is pursuing an Executive Masters of Nonprofit Administration degree at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. A passionate advocate for the most vulnerable, Lisa has made volunteer and legal pro bono work a large part of her life. She’s had the privilege of working with various community organizations supporting people with disabilities, tutoring and mentoring incarcerated children, and completing a transformative fellowship with the International Commission of Jurists in Nairobi, working to improve access to legal systems throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Lisa currently serves as the Board Chair of the Amani Institute and lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and three children.
