Just skimmed an article titled Most Americans Rate China’s Economy First. Article went on to state that more than half of Americans mistakenly see China rather than the US as the world’s leading economic power.
However, the USA is by far the world’s largest economy… almost triple the GDP of China ($14.62 Trillion vs. $5.75 Trillion).
*An even more telling statistic: China’s per capita GDP is about $4,000. USA’s is $47,000!!!
Why do people think China’s economy is greater than ours??? The Gallop Study concluded that “Everyone is aware of the struggles of the US economy.” That comes from news, headlines, etc.
That’s one of the biggest problems with the media. Pretty simple. BAD NEWS SELLS!
Been like that for a long time. Edison invents the light bulb and the headline reads:
DISCOVERY IN MENLO PARK DESTROYS CANDLE INDUSTRY.
I wrote a piece two years ago about the economy’s impact on the 3rd Sector… NOW MORE THAN EVER.
Honestly not sure where I’m going with this, other than the old ‘half empty/half full glass’. I do know one thing. ENTREPRENEURS take CHALLENGES (Problems) and turn them into OPPORTUNITIES (Solutions).
P.S. Maybe the real point of this is don’t believe all (the headlines) you read.
