Wealth. Health. Money.

For Impact Ideas | | Tom Suddes

A short follow-up to my pre-Thanksgiving post regarding wealth as an abundance of things we value.

This comes from Steve Wolf, a For Impact/Suddes Group Designer and Web Director, Site Manager of our Eagle Creek Leadership Center, Company Fitness Trainer and all around great guy.

The Dalai Lama was asked what surprised him most about humanity. He answered, “Man. Because he sacrifices his health to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.”

He went on to say, “Then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future. He lives as if he’s never going to die and then dies having never really lived.”

Leave it to the Dalai to simplify everything.

It reminds me of the ‘sales story’ that we used to tell during my entrepreneurial adventures with athletic clubs. You spend more money in the last few weeks of your life trying to stay aliveā€¦ than you spend in your entire life on your health and your fitness.

Thanks Wolfie and thanks Lama.
