Simplify Your Message

Story | | Nick Fellers

When we design Engagement Tools we include a ‘trimming process’ inspired by words of The Little Prince author, Antoine de Saint-Exupery:

“In anything at all, perfection is finally attained not when there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away.”

When a person designs ‘message’ (think: case statements, selling tools, etc) the brain starts by trying to dump and then sort everything. The result is an ‘arrangement of everything,’ rather than a ‘representation of everything.’ (See: Any mission statement!!!)

Cut. Trim. Group. Perfection is finally attained not where there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away.
