The Organization

Let’s talk about the difference between a ‘Strategic Plan and strategic clarity. Why are we distinguishing these concepts?

It seems like every day we talk with someone who needs or wants a Strategic Plan. But, we’ve found that in almost every case what they really need is clarity and simplicity. Many (lengthy) Strategic Plans don’t derive from or result in real strategic clarity. So what’s the point of spending hours upon hours developing something that often only makes things more confusing?

We’ve developed our Altitude Framework to help organizations find strategic clarity that fits on one sheet of paper (vs a 100 page Strategic Plan.)

30,000′

Your purpose and your vision: why do you exist and to what end?

This should fit on a napkin.

14,000′

Approximately three simple strategic priorities that advance the organization toward the end goal, aligning with purpose.

These should fit on the back of that napkin.

3′

A 100-day (near term) plan of action tied to each priority and a 1000-day plan of action with benchmarks that run more fluidly for quarterly review.

This should fit on one sheet of paper (maybe two).

If you can achieve strategic clarity, you’ll be able to focus your efforts on what truly matters, without getting lost in lengthy, confusing plans.
